Ludic evening in Lausanne dedicated to Equatorial Guinea
I was invited to participate in a lovely and entertaining evening on Equatorial Guinea at the University of Lausanne. In a first part, the web page “La comunidad guineoecuatoriana en Suiza” on Mapa del español en Suiza was presented, which had been developed by Mónica Castillo Lluch and a group of students from the University of Lausanne as part of a Master's seminar in the spring semester of 2024. Inspired by my own fascination with Equatorial Guinea, this project focuses on the small Equatoguinean community in Switzerland.
I then had the opportunity to talk about my book Voces de una comunidad africana poco visible: los guineoecuatorianos en Madrid (Diwan, Madrid, 2022), which served as inspiration for the work of Mónica Castillo Lluch and her team. I am very pleased that my work has borne fruit in this way and made this great work on the Equatoguineans in the Swiss diaspora possible.
The evening was rounded off with a wonderful musical contribution from two musicians living in Geneva with roots in Equatorial Guinea: César (@zesariom) and Sa (@asmarekagestreetz). Their socially critical lyrics, their winning and dynamic manner, and their lively rap made me mentally travel back to Equatorial Guinea.
Many thanks to everyone involved for this successful evening!
