Every day (at least when we have a stable Internet connection) we get the horrible news from Ukraine. It is a very strange feeling: once we are in Africa (a continent that unfortunately is often associated with crisis, poverty, and wars), the war is in Europe. We are frightened by the images of destroyed cities, fleeing people, and injured women and children. Here, in Equatorial Guinea, the issue is very present too; neither we nor anyone else can understand, even remotely, why anyone can be capable of producing so much affliction, so much horror and so much suffering. We lack the words to express what we feel. We just hope that the unjust attacks will end soon, and that Ukraine can return to a life without war.
